Beyond the Essay is a team of two English teachers supporting your writing for your best college essay!

Mrs. Jennifer Ewing, M.Ed

 

Mrs. Ewing has been teaching for 18 years and is currently an English Teacher at Highlands Ranch High School where she has taught AP Literature as well as honors and core classes. Mrs. Ewing teaches the Concurrent Enrollment College Preparatory program through Arapahoe Community College. These college level courses prepare students for college level composition and literature. Mrs. Ewing helps her students to write, plan, and revise college and scholarship essays. 

 

Mrs. Ewing has led professional developments seminars throughout Colorado on using literature in connection with writing and writing technology. In 2005, she helped to implement and run the National Writing Project at Colorado State University. She has conducted symposiums and workshops at the local, state and national levels and was honored to be selected as a Colorado representative to develop educational proposals in Washington D.C.

 

In her free time, Mrs. Ewing enjoys snowboarding, reading, and spending time in the mountains with her family and little spotted dog.

Mrs. Jacqueline Rapant, M.A.T.

 

 

Mrs. Rapant has been teaching for 15 years and is currently an English Teacher at Highlands Ranch High School where she teaches AP Language and Composition, English II Honors, and British Literature. Mrs. Rapant assists her juniors and seniors with the college application process, college essays, scholarship essays, and the letter of recommendation process.

 

Mrs. Rapant is a National Writing Project Teacher Consultant, has taught writing pedagogy at the graduate level, and has acted as a literacy consultant for urban and rural high-need schools. Additionally, she has developed and led professional development workshops and advanced institutes for educators at the local, state, and national levels on literacy and writing instruction, and was invited and presented to the New York State Board of Regents and New York State Commissioner of Education.  In January 2018, Mrs. Rapant co-authored an article on teaching revision published in the English Journal.

 

In her free time, Mrs. Rapant enjoys reading, skiing, hiking, and camping with her family and two yellow labs.
